It is with deep sadness that our little boy, Jackson died suddenly on the 24th November 2009 aged just 6 ½, we love and miss him terribly. Jackson was such a positive and happy boy that we feel it only right to try to continue with our story with him firmly in our hearts, so this websites for you Jackson. x We wanted to create a business that our children could be involved in and actively participate. We believe it is important for them, and indeed everyone, to understand how food is grown and the lifecycle of animals reared for meat. We have faced some challenges along the way but these keep you focused and motivated. With pig welfare in the news on an almost daily basis, today’s food conscious people appear to be getting more bemused with the origin of meat and confused with its labeling. We are told the horrific stories of tail docking, teeth clipping and sow stalls and with the ever-increasing purchase of land in the EU by some of the big producers, the purchase of the pork we eat, quite rightly, is in question. We rear our friendly Saddleback pigs’ outdoors on a healthy and varied diet, they have lots of space to exercise and play with plenty of straw to keep them cosy at night. For us keeping pigs is a pleasure and a privilege, they are very sociable and are really intelligent. We offer an assortment of pork products and design our own gourmet sausage recipes, which are complimented by seasonal fresh ingredients from our kitchen garden.
